You know, one of these times I should dig out my real camera and start taking shots again...
A snapshot of the development of our photographic habit; bringing into focus the composition of things in an aperture in time (all right.. enough puns :D )

Macro Monday
So Anna found an old memory stick; it's out of date and essentially useless, but makes for a nice macro :) As always, we have a reference, regular and stupid macro level shot :)

Macro Monday
Yes, we are a bit late on this post, but in my defense, I was very busy napping yesterday.
This is the saw blade from my multi tool.
Sent from my supremely cool BlackBerry Z10 which totally doesn't look like an Iphone....

Things you still can't do with a phone camera
So I went out with the cameras this evening. The shots shared here are from the same evening, same location on one of the local bridges. The first two shots are with the D80 using a 15mm lens while the last two are phone camera shots with the 180 fisheye lens.
The first thing to notice is the fact that the DSLR shots are simply better quality images; better resolution, better detail, better colour rendering. The second thing to notice is that the phone camera allowed me to take a 180 degree fisheye shot, at reasonable quality, for a fraction of the price it would cost me to get for my DSLR. For my system, Fisheye lenses start at about $375 and work their way up to about 10 grand. The fisheye used on my phone camera was about $30. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to buy a proper fisheye for my camera but I happen to like being married so I'll not bring that one up with the boss.
Bottom line, I've got toys for everyday use and I've got a solid wishlist of things to get in the future :D.
Long live photography.

F22, Auto Aperture ending at around 10 seconds
F22, 2 second exposure (fully manual mode)

Macro Monday
So I'm having way too much fun with my phone lenses. I'm sure I've said this before, but just to reiterate...
The reference:
Macro lens on
Macro lens and Macro mode on
I should really take the same shot with my 90mm Tamron on my DSLR just to see how it rates.

Made in Poland.
The cultural melting pot is delicious.

The joys of discovery (totally knew this...)
As I've previously mentioned, I've got new lenses for my phone. My current favourite is the Macro lens. In discussion groups, I was asked to compare the lens with the native macro function in my Blackberry Z10's camera. My first reaction was *What* native macro function??? A few google searches later, I got my answer.
So here we have the native macro shot.
followed by the Macro lens shot. Notice the improved focus, though narrow focal band.
And now, the lens *with* the camera's macro setting.
Just for fun, I followed up with a regular shot of a pen, and a super macro :D
All in all, I'm pretty happy with the results, especially considering this is all from a phone. Granted, it's the absolutely spectacular BlackBerry Z10, but still... ;)
