I was able to take a whole bunch of photos in Louise McKinney Park in downtown Edmonton today, including some from the pedestrian bridge.
Considering how deep the valley is, it's amazing to see these areas covered in water.
You can see the complete set at my flickr account here. There are all straight from the camera, completely unedited (not even resized) photos taken with my old Canon S3. I chose that camera because it can also take video. I took several videos at different areas and put them together, opting to make several short video compilations, rather than one really long video.

Parts of Riverdale are seeing some flooding. This is our view of Riverdale and the river from our balcony.

Happy Birthday
My younger daughter turns 17 today. For her birthday lunch, she chose the maki boat at the southside Kyoto.
Mmmmmmm...

Look Who's Back
A couple of years back, I wrote about some strays that showed up on our balcony - the parents of our own Finnegan. We had adopted out Finn's mother, Freya.
Today, she just showed up on our balcony again.
Philippe brought out a soup bowl full to the top of cat food for her. She promptly ate half of it, in between rubbing all over our legs, and anything else she came near on our balcony. While not at thin as when we first found her, she was clearly very hungry.
We can't let her into the house. Finn is all over the window, looking at her. He isn't fixed yet (we even had a breeding request, though that fell through), so there's no way we can allow them together. It's possible the family that adopted her got her fixed, but we can't tell. I would guess there's some sort of scarring to look for, but she isn't allowing us to hang on to her long enough to check. She seems quite excited to be back on our balcony!
The carrier we turned into a shelter for her and Finn is still around, so we've made a bed for her under our patio table, and left food out for her.
We have no idea what happened. Did the family that took her let her go? Did she run away?
How interesting that, whatever the reason is that she's away from the family that adopted her, she came back to us!

Fun with stitching
I use a program called Autostitch to generate landscape pictures from independent captures. I have to admit I'm in love with this thing, as it allows me to do things like this :)
Mixed feelings about this whole insomnia thing...
So this morning I got up at 4:40, yet again. Please don't get me wrong, I *love* the shots I get at this time of the morning, but I have to admit I'm getting a little grumpy about the whole lack of sleep thing...
Here we're starting to peak a bit
I fully realize I'm somewhat addicted to light, but sometimes I try and balance it out with a tree or something :P
Over here I was startled by a bird flying directly overhead, which ended up by the telephone pole by the time I was able to capture him.
Him and his buddies on the tree branches

Strange greeting in a meeting room
This thing startles me every time I show up for a meeting in this room.

A hint of sunshine
This was part of the fifteen minutes of sunshine we got today. It's currently raining "Ã boire debout" ... :)

New phone attachments
These shots were taken with new lens attachments for my Z10 BlackBerry phone ; one is a fisheye and the other one is a macro. This type of photographic flexibility is usually not seen with a phone. I am impressed
