Macro Monday on Tuesday...

So the one thing about having Monday off is that the regular schedule is altered. This means that instead of finding a macro subject yesterday, I was comfortably sleeping in :P

These are the base of a glass carving that have seen a bit of wear. The original picture was fairly mono-colour until I hit the "surprise me" button on my picture massage software :)

A surprise gift

So I'm a sucker for pens... always have been. The prettier, the better. I've shied away from fountain pens simply because I'm left-handed and I drag my hand across the ink. When I was younger (not quite a teenager in the 60, but still) this was a fairly major issue as ink technology was nowhere as advanced as today, so  the ink stayed wet for a while, making my use of a fountain pen problematic.

Not no more!! :D

(there was a friggin' hair on the background I used for the second shot; the price of cats :P)

Opportunities

‎ Every once in a while I go out on a "photo shoot", with all my gear and my tripod and go hunting for photographic opportunities. Thing is though, every once in a while a gorgeous shot simply presents itself to me and I have a few seconds to either take it or watch it go by. Yesterday, I got lucky.

Suffering for art

‎So the sink at work has died and we no longer have access to filtered water. That means that my walk to work this morning included 20lbs of water bottles in my backpack. 

The good news is that I left early enough to catch the sunrise :)

It's not snowing...

... but I honestly don't know what the weather is doing right now.

It's not hail, either.  The balls are as light as snowflakes, and not hard at all.  They're like styrofoam.

It's also above freezing right now, so they're trying to melt, too.

So does anyone know that name of this type of precipitation?
